Yes I still think it does. Korean cars have definitely got a better rep over the past few years and Hyundai's latest offerings (and even Kia) show that they can now make high quality, 5-star safety cars loaded with value.
However, I do know many people who would simply not even consider purchasing a Korean car. It is interesting to note though I think this is a generational thing. If you asked a Gen Y or should I say someone born in the late 80s and early 90s whether they'd buy a Korean car, they'd probably wonder why you're even posing the question. Korean cars are now at the stage that Japanese cars were in the 80s-90s. Many are starting to consider them seriously as alternatives.
